Run a promo or loyalty campaign

ISPMan gives you three levers for marketing, all under Sales & Promos:

Tool Good for Where
Campaigns (promo codes) A percentage discount on a package, shared as codes. Sales & Promos → Campaigns
Vouchers Free access to a package. You hand them out on paper or by SMS. Sales & Promos → Vouchers
Loyalty Points Rewarding repeat hotspot customers with free time or data. Sales & Promos → Loyalty Points

This walkthrough runs a typical “launch month” promotion that uses all three.

  1. Go to Sales & Promos → Campaigns and click New Campaign.
  2. Fill in:
    • Campaign Title and Description: for your own reference, for example “December launch – 50% off weekly”.
    • Service: hotspot or PPPoE. Then choose the Hotspot Package or PPPoE Package the discount applies to.
    • Discount %: between 0 and 100. A 100% code connects the customer straight away, with no payment.
    • Number of Codes, Code Prefix (for example DEC) and Max Activations (how many times each code can be used).
    • Location (optional).
  3. Click Create Campaign. You’ll see Campaign created successfully with N promo codes.
  4. Open the campaign to see its codes, then share them on posters, WhatsApp or by SMS.

Customers enter the code on your captive portal when they buy the package.

Vouchers are handy for shops, events and resellers.

  1. Go to Sales & Promos → Vouchers.
  2. Turn on Enable in Captive. Without this, the voucher option isn’t shown on your portal.
  3. Click Create Bulk Vouchers, choose the package, set the Number of Vouchers (1 to 5,000) and a Voucher Expiry Date, then create.
  4. Click Print vouchers as PDF, choose the Paper size, Vouchers per page and which vouchers to print, then download.

On the portal, customers tap Use Voucher and type the code. A voucher can be used if it’s assigned to that customer or unassigned, and if it hasn’t expired or been used already.

To send a voucher to one specific customer, open their hotspot customer page and click Create Voucher. Tick Send to SMS to send them the code.

Part 3: Loyalty points to bring people back

Section titled “Part 3: Loyalty points to bring people back”

Loyalty points are for hotspot customers.

  1. Go to Sales & Promos → Loyalty Points and open the settings.
  2. Turn on Enable Loyalty Program, and turn on Show on Captive Portal so customers can see their balance.
  3. Set how points are earned:
    • Amount per 1 Loyalty Point: for example, 100 means a customer who pays KES 500 earns 5 points.
    • Points for portal visits, purchases, referrals and TV connections. Keep the visit points small to avoid abuse.
  4. Set how points are spent: turn on Enable Time Redemption and/or Enable Data Redemption, and set the rate.
  5. Optionally, use Award Points for Past Payments to give points for a past date range. Each payment is only ever counted once, so running it twice is safe.

You can also give points by hand with Award Points on a customer’s page.

On the Loyalty Points list, Reset points either caps everyone at a value you choose or clears all balances to 0. It applies to every hotspot customer at once and can’t be undone.

  • Payments → Reports and Trends: did revenue and active customers go up during the campaign?
  • Campaigns: open a campaign to see how many codes were used.
  • Customers → New Customers: how many first-time customers joined.
