Selling ad space
Your hotspot portal is seen by everyone who connects. Local businesses, such as the shop next door, a salon or a school, will pay to put an advert in front of them. ISPMan lets them buy ad space directly from your portal: they tap Advertise here, choose one of your plans, pay, and upload their artwork. You review it, and once you approve it the advert runs on the schedule the plan was sold with.
There are two pages:
- Sales & Promos → Ad plans (
/dashboard/advertising/plans): what you sell. - Sales & Promos → Placed ads (
/dashboard/advertising/placed-ads): the adverts people have bought, waiting for your decision.
Step 1: Create an ad plan
Section titled “Step 1: Create an ad plan”A plan is a price, a duration and a time slot, for example “KES 1,000 for a week, 8am to 6pm”. Until you add a plan, the Advertise here button on your portal has nothing to sell.
- Go to Ad plans and click New Plan.
- Fill in the plan:
- Name, such as One week, daytime.
- A description, such as Your advert shown to everyone connecting, 8am to 6pm.
- Price and Currency.
- Days: how many days the advert runs.
- Days of week, From and Until: when during the week and day it shows.
- Adverts per order: how many creatives one purchase can include.
- Order shown: the position of this plan in the list on your portal.
- Tick Offer this plan on the portal.
- Click Save Plan. You see “Plan saved”.
Each plan card shows its time window, days and other details, with Edit and Delete.
- Deactivating a plan (untick Offer this plan on the portal) takes it off the portal. Adverts already bought on it keep running.
- Deleting a plan is refused while orders exist on it, because the plan is the record of what those advertisers paid for.
Step 2: Review placed ads
Section titled “Step 2: Review placed ads”Placed Ads is a board with one column per stage:
| Column | Meaning | Who moves it |
|---|---|---|
| Awaiting payment | The buyer started but the payment is not confirmed. A card marked Paid — confirmation pending means the money is on its way. | Moves by itself when the payment lands. |
| Paid, no advert yet | Paid, but no artwork uploaded. The advertiser has a link and 72 hours to use it. | Moves by itself when the artwork arrives. |
| Needs your review | Paid, with artwork, waiting for you. | You. |
| Running | Approved and live on the plan’s schedule. | You. |
| Finished | The run has ended. | You or the schedule. |
| Turned down | You rejected it. | You. |
Open a card to see the price paid, the buyer’s Contact, what they Bought from your WiFi as, when it Runs, the artwork, and what they asked for and told you. You can add Notes for the advertiser.
Decide on an advert
Section titled “Decide on an advert”- Approve & run (or drag the card onto Running): the creative goes live on the plan’s schedule immediately.
- Turn down (or drag onto Turned down): you must say why first. The file and order are kept, since a rejection usually leads to a refund conversation.
- Pull it now (or drag onto Finished): end a running advert early. It is not a rejection; the delivery record still shows what ran.
- Drag a decided card back onto Needs your review to look again. A running advert comes off the portal while you do.
You cannot drag cards into or out of the two waiting columns. That would amount to marking an order paid without a payment.
Each card also offers a Delivery report showing how the advert performed.
Getting paid
Section titled “Getting paid”When a visitor buys a plan, the money settles to your wallet. See Wallets and Withdrawals.
