Alerts

ISPMan watches your routers and raises an alert when one goes offline. You see alerts under Alerts in the side menu, and you can be notified by email or SMS.

Open Settings → Usage Alerts & Thresholds (/dashboard/settings/alerts), or click Alert Settings on the Alerts page.

  1. Under Device Alerts, switch on Enable Device Alerts to be notified when devices go offline or come back online.
  2. Choose an Alert Delay: how long a device must be offline before you’re told. Options are After 5 minutes offline, After 10 minutes offline and After 30 minutes offline.
  3. Under Notification Methods, switch on Email Notifications, SMS Notifications, or both.

Under General Alerts you can also choose to receive by SMS:

  • SMS Invitations: when you’re invited to join a business.
  • SMS Invoices: when an invoice is issued or a payment is overdue.

These settings are for your own account. Each team member who wants alerts sets their own.

Alerts (/dashboard/alerts), titled Device Alerts, shows offline devices and the status of each alert. The side menu shows a count of active alerts.

At the top are three counters:

  • Active Alerts: devices offline right now.
  • Escalated: alerts that have been raised further because the device stayed offline.
  • Resolved Today: alerts closed today.

Use the tabs All Active, Active, Escalated and Resolved to filter the table. Each row shows the Device, Status, Detected At, Duration (marked “ongoing” while the device is still offline) and which Notifications were sent.

Status Meaning
Active The device has been detected offline.
Escalated The device is still offline and the alert has been escalated.
Resolved The device came back online, or someone resolved the alert by hand.

Click a row to open the alert. It shows the device (name and ID), when it was Detected At, its Last Ping, when it was Escalated At and Resolved At, how it was resolved (Resolution Type, Resolved By, Resolution Notes) and whether each notification was sent.

If you know why a device is down, for example you’ve taken it out of service, click Resolve Manually, add a note explaining why, and confirm. The alert moves to Resolved with your name on it.

Common causes are power, the internet link to the site, or the router’s connection to ISPMan. See Troubleshooting and Devices for what to check.
