Reports and trends

ISPMan has two business-wide analysis pages:

  • Reports answers “how much did we make, from what, and who uses the most?”
  • Trends answers “when are people online, and how is that changing?”

Payment-specific charts are under Payments → Reports, covered in Payments.

Reports (/dashboard/reports), titled Reports & Analytics, gives revenue, customer and data usage insights across your hotspots, packages and locations.

To see Reports you need the owner, admin, operator, manager, branch_manager, reports_admin or reports_reader role. Branch-limited members only see their own branches.

Control What it does
Period Filters every chart: Today, Yesterday, This Week, This Month, Last Month, Last 3 Months, Last 5 Months, Year to Date.
Show Amounts Shows money values on the charts. Leave it off when you’re sharing your screen.
From / To and Export to Excel Download the raw records for any date range you choose, independent of the period above.

While an export is being built the button shows its progress. When it’s done the file downloads, and the button changes to Downloaded — Export again.

Section What it shows
Trends Revenue and data consumption over time, so you can spot growth or drops.
Revenue Breakdown Where the money came from in the period, split by hotspot, package and location.
Voucher Revenue Revenue from voucher sales only, by hotspot, package and location.
Customer Distribution How your active customers are spread across hotspots, packages and locations.
Customer Behaviour When customers connect and what they connect with: peak hours, device types and operating systems.
Data Usage The heaviest data users, and how usage is spread across device types.

Trends (/dashboard/trends) shows activity patterns over time. It loads its charts one by one, and only shows charts for services you actually run. For example, you won’t see hotspot charts if you only run PPPoE.

To see Trends you need the owner role or a hotspot or PPPoE role.

Chart What it shows
Online Users How many sessions were online at each point in time (sessions opened or updated by the router in the last 10 minutes), plus a typical day: the average online in each hour, in your time zone.
Hotspot Customer Visits Heatmap When hotspot customers visit, by day and hour, so you can see your busy times.
PPPoE Session Activity Per day over the last 4 weeks: session gaps, upload and download, and session counts. Useful for spotting customers who drop off often.
Hotspot Customer Trend How your hotspot customer numbers change over time.
Hotspot Fair Usage Trend How many hotspot users reach your fair-usage limits over time.
Fair Usage by Package Which packages’ users hit fair-usage limits most.
Top Users Hitting Fair Usage The individual customers who reach fair-usage limits most.

Each chart has a Refresh data button. Charts are cached for speed; hover over the cache marker to see when the data was last updated.

  • A sudden drop in Online Users at one time of day across all routers usually means a power or upstream outage. Check Alerts for the same time.
  • Lots of gaps in PPPoE Session Activity for one customer usually points to their equipment or line, not your network.
  • Many users hitting fair usage on one package may mean the package’s limit is too tight for its price, or that the package is being shared.

You can switch charts between donuts and bars in the settings drawer (gear icon, Preferred charts). See Dashboard tour.

To get a written report every day, week or month without opening the dashboard, set up an Assistant newsletter. See Assistant.
